一、Materials Science and Engineering, as an interdisciplinary specialty among Materials Science, Physics and Chemistry, has a tight relationship with the rapid development of economy and technology. Under the philosophy of “solid foundation, wide knowledge scope, be innovative and competent”, this major shape all the trainings to ensure that the student has solid fundamental theoretical background and rich experimental skills in the field of Materials Science and Engineering, has the professional knowledge and skills to understand the composition of materials, its preparation process, performance and application. Meanwhile, the major aim to cultivate high composite person with ability of conducting materials design, development and application.
二、The goal of the master program for international students in Materials Science and Engineering is to cultivate innovative technical and managerial personnel for development, manufacturing and management in the field of civil engineering, construction, mechanical engineering and automotive industry. The courses are designed to foster qualified engineers who are well developed morally, intellectual and physically with solid fundamental theories and knowledge for developing, fabrication, testing and application of engineering materials. Furthermore, the program ensures that the students with international perspectives could study in multicultural environment and be capable of communicating via Mandarin and applying computer skills in daily lives.
三、The cultivation of master students mainly adopts the combination of curriculum learning, scientific research, academic exchange and scientific research practice, and implements the steering group responsibility system dominated by instructors. The tutor and students jointly formulate a training plan, and the tutor guides students in topic selection, literature review, research, scientific research, dissertation writing and defense, so as to give full play to the advantages of collective training. Through the combination of the master students' pioneering and enterprising scientific research ability in high-level scientific research projects, focusing on cultivating students' ability to independently engage in scientific research and creativity.
