Recently, according to the latest statistics of ESI, the material science discipline of our university has entered the top 1% of the world's ESI, which is the third subject ranked in the top 1% of the world's ESI after the disciplines of engineering and Geosciences.
Since the launch of the "Double First Class" construction, our university has taken "Chinese characteristics and world first class" as the core, implemented the basic task of morality education, and proactively faced the country's major strategic needs, the main battlefield of the national economy, the frontiers of world scientific and technological development. Moreover, our university has focused on first-class, deepened reform, concentrated its strength to catch up other universities. Our university has been highlighting the quality and efficiency of construction, social contribution and international influence.Thus,with the rapid development of various undertakings, the comprehensive strength and core competitiveness of our university have been improvedsignificantly.
In order to improve the international influence of the disciplines, our university has taken multiple measures to promote discipline construction by colleges and disciplines. Simultaneously, our university has formulated construction plans and action plans for all disciplines, and launched a series of strategic measures to accelerate the pace of internationalization of disciplines. The university’s continuous breakthrough in its core aspect indicated that the effect of the university’s"Double FirstClass"construction was being demonstrated, the international influence of our university was rapidly rising, which reveals a solid step is taken towards the goal proposed by the Fourth PartyCongress.
In order to promote the construction of the first-class discipline of materials science, the School of Materials Science and Engineering has seized the opportunity and made great efforts to strengthen the construction of high-level scientific research teams and platforms, including introducing distinguished international experts, such as professors of Changjiang Scholars, focusing on the innovation of the discipline construction mechanism and the mode of talent training, and promoting the two-way cooperation in basic scientific research and the industry-university-research cooperation. These measures have significantly enhanced the original innovation capability and the transformation level of scientific and technological achievements, and produced a batch of high-level academic achievements. In 2019, many achievements of the School were published in the form of cover articles in international top journals in the field of Materials Science, suchas Advanced Energy Materials(IF=24.884),AdvancedMaterials(IF=25.809), which demonstrates the great development potential of our university in the frontier materials disciplines such as nanomaterials, energy materials and 3Dprinting.
