The Inorganic-Nonmetallic Materials Laboratory was established in 1995 and merged into the School of Material Science and Engineering from the Institute of Earth Science and Resources in 2007. At present, thelaboratory consists of material performance testing room, material preparation room, cement forming room, ceramic forming room and hightemperature firing room. There are three full-time and part-time teachers in the laboratory, all of whom have doctoral degrees,including one associate professor, one senior engineer and one lecturer.
The laboratory mainly undertakes the experimental teaching of undergraduates majoring in inorganic non-metallic materials engineering, and provides scientific research services for the whole school and thesociety. The main research directions of the laboratory are the preparation and performance testing of cement-based materials, high performance road concrete materials, semiconductor materials, ceramicmaterials, composite materials and so on.
The laboratory is open to undergraduates and postgraduates. It guides and encourages students to apply basic theory of inorganic non-metallic materialsand knowledge of physical properties of inorganic non-metallic materials, and actively carries out research and innovative experiments on new materials.
