From September 1st to 4th, Professor Xinghua Su from the Department of Inorganic Nonmetallic Materials Engineering attended the 19th European Ceramic Society Conference (ECerS). The conference was held in Dresden, Germany, and featured 15 thematic symposiums covering various related fields of ceramic science and technology. The conference focused on addressing some of the most critical challenges facing society, such as sustainability, energy transition, and recycling technologies. In addition, the 100th Annual Meeting of the German Ceramic Society was also held concurrently. Nearly 2,000 delegates from 56 countries around the world participated in the event.
During the 2nd Thematic Symposium (Thermal processes and advanced sintering/Cold sintering) of the conference, Professor Su delivered a presentation titled “Flash Defect-Engineering of Oxygen-Deficient Zirconia”. He introduced the application of flash sintering technology in the field of defect engineering for ceramic materials, offering a new strategy for creating high-concentration defects in ceramic bulk materials. Throughout the conference, Professor Su engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with experts and scholars in related fields.
