The X-ray photoelectron spectrometer system of the School of Materials was officially put into shared operation

Recently, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy ( XPS ) system has been officially opened and shared by universities and research institutes across the country, providing comprehensive services such as sample testing, technical consultation and data analysis. The introduction and operation of this representative equipment is another milestone in the construction of scientific research platform since the first soft X-ray-EBSD-EDS combined system in the northwest of our college was put into operation. It is also another important stage achievement in the construction of the general test and analysis center of our college. It will provide accurate material surface physical properties and composition analysis services for the majority of researchers inside and outside the college, and help our college to innovate and break through scientific research in the field of basic research.

X-ray photoelectron spectrometer

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is one of the most widely used surface composition and chemical state characterization techniques. It is an internationally recognized key general test equipment for material surface analysis and detection. The device is also equipped with ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy ( UPS ), ion scattering spectroscopy ( ISS ), high and low temperature platforms and other functional accessories. It can realize the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the elemental composition and chemical bond state on the surface of the sample, the surface single atomic layer adsorbate, the elemental composition and chemical state depth analysis, the surface energy state distribution, the surface electron cloud distribution and energy level structure, the angle-resolved XPS analysis, the temperature response behavior of the element chemical state on the surface of the sample, etc. It has the characteristics of high resolution, high sensitivity, large amount of information and non-destructive testing. The formal operation of the equipment will provide strong support for the research of advanced transportation basic materials, nano and functional materials, new energy materials, environmental engineering materials, special metal materials and other disciplines in our university.
